On October 12, 2010, via surrogate, they had twins. Harper Grace and Gideon Scott:

My Coming Out Experience
So recently, NPR contacted me to ask if I’d participate in a piece they were doing regarding the ‘coming out’ experience - what I sent didn’t work out for segment they were running, but I didn’t want it to go to waste. I’ve never really shared this on the internet, but there’s a first time for everything…

NEW MONTH, NEW SEASON, NEW EVERYTHING!
So, i’ve missed days 5 and 6, well and 7since today is 7 June. Sorry, I’ve been busy packing all of my stuff and heading back to college. I am sitting in the apartments at school. It’s weird being here during the summer. A lot of my college friends decided to stay over the summer and many are taking classes or are from around here, but it’s not the same. Campus is dead and not all of my friends are here. However, the past couple of days I have been thankful for the wonderful friends that are here. I LOVE these guys and they really help me. They inspire me, pray for me, encourage me, joke with me, argue with me, and love me. I am so blessed to have the people that I do this summer.
Also, I was kind of nervous about living with two guys I had never met before. In addition, I was the last person to move in, so everyone already had their stuff organized and spots taken in the kitchen. But, when I opened the door the first time, I met the guys I didn’t know and they couldn’t have been nicer. They are totally chill and fun and it’s going to be a great summer.
I’m kind of sad that I don’t get to stay in this house/apartment dor the entire year. However, I do love dorm life and in the dorms ALL of my friends live there. But when I leave in the fall and move back into the dorms, I know I can always come back and chill in the haus of gaga!

day 05 - a song that reminds you of someone
Til the World Ends by Britney Spears. i LOVE this song and it reminds me of my dear friend Kyle. He sings it in a high, falsetto voice and it makes me smile every time I hear this song!
day 06 - a song that reminds you of somewhereWell, I;m going to cop out and say My Old Kentucky Home by Stephen Foster. It is the state song for Kentucky, where I’m from, and I was not able to go to the Kentucky Derby, where they sing this song every year. This was the first Derby where I was not in Kentucky for it. It was weird.
day 07 - a song that reminds you of a certain event
Ironically, I could have used My Old Kentucky Home for this one. However, I will not do that because THAT would be cheating! So I will say….Long Hot Summer Day by Sara Watkins. It reminds me of Forecastle which is a big 3 day outdoor concert in Louisville. I went to it with my best fried the summer after I graduated. I saw so many great bands, including Grace Potter, Cake, Bass Nector, She&Him, Devo, Flaming Lips, and it reminds me of that wonderful time in my life.

Day 04
Well, by the time i post this it will be day 5 but this is the first time i have to post it so deal! Today we celebrated my nephew’s 6th birthday. It seems like yesterday I was in seventh grade and holding this little being in my arms. His eyes were fixed in mine and he followed my voice around. I love that little guy. So everyone was at our house today; My Grandparents, sister, bf, her three kids, her bf’s parents, my parents, my aunt, my friend, and a couple little kids. There was a TON of work to be done and it was so crazy and hectic all day, but it was my family together, enjoying each other. My family tends to get me on my nerves, but I love them so much. I truly do. I wouldn’t change them for the world. And in about eight hours, my parents will be with me heading back to Nashville to help me move in to my apartment, meet my friends, and go to my new church. Today, I am thankful for my family.
